Getting traffic to your hosted website... Ideas!

If you go on Youtube and watch a bunch of videos on how to get traffic to your website, it sounds like there is really good advice out there.

If you pay special attention to the DATE of the video, or any article you read, you may quickly see that you are getting stale information.

One of the misconceptions that webmasters believe to this day is that by writing multiple comments on people's blogs, that you can post your web address too, which gives you lots of inbound links for the search engines to gobble up.

Well if you look at the source code of the blog, you'll see the following HTML in the link
rel="nofollow" which basically tells all search engine spiders to not index the outbound link.

So there you have it. You get your web hosting account setup. You upload your website with FTP (or Microsoft Frontpage). All you need is traffic to your domain name registration.

Just avoid spamming people's blogs with stupid comments, because you're not growing your link popularity. Instead, it is just a big waste of time.
